Workshop 1 : Developing Wind Energy in T&T - Asset Management: Efficient and Effective Operations & Maintenance
Sponsored by: British High Commission

Date: February 12th 2025
Location: Regency III
Time:
9:00am - 12:00pm

With over 30 years’ experience within the international energy and utilities sectors, Dr. Alan Lowdon will be visiting Trinidad and Tobago to host a workshop with key stakeholders involved in Trinidad and Tobago’s energy transition. Alan is the former Director of Technology & Innovation at the UK’s National Renewable Energy Centre (NaREC), now part of the Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult, an organisation that Alan helped the UK Government to establish in 2012.

In 2009, Alan was instrumental in securing £80mn of UK Government finance which led to the permitting of the c. 100MW Blyth Offshore Wind Demonstrator project, off the coast of North East England, as well as the development of the world’s largest blade test facility at NaREC. From January 2013 until December 2020, Alan was non-executive director (offshore energy) at the Port of Blyth, UK where the port experienced a renaissance because of the boom in both onshore and offshore wind, and the creation of Energy Central as an economic development zone for energy-related businesses. Alan also has extensive experience in the onshore wind sector having led the Wind Services business of Jacobs Engineering in the UK. In addition, Alan is current Chair of a Leeds University spinout, Acuity Robotics, which has developed a robotic system for inspecting wind turbine structures.

During this workshop, Alan will present on his experience in supporting the UK Wind Sector by sharing on key linkages to finance, risk, insurance, levelized cost of energy (LCOE), technology (AI, robotics, inspection, data analytics etc) and training and workforce development.

Format - 75-minute presentation followed by a workshop in which attendees will explore the relationship among the various underpinning aspects above and wind farm asset management/O&M.

Workshop 2: Unravelling the Depths: Caribbean Wireline Logging Essentials
Sponsored by: Weatherford

Date: February 12th 2025
Location: Regency IV
Time:
9:00am - 12:00pm

"Unravelling the Depths: Caribbean Wireline Logging Essentials" delves into the importance of wireline logging in the Caribbean region’s oil and gas exploration and production. The workshop emphasizes the critical role of wireline logging tools in collecting subsurface data, providing insights into reservoir properties such as porosity, permeability, saturation, and hydrocarbon content. The focus is on the necessity of accurate and detailed logging to optimize reservoir evaluations, enhance well placement, and guide decision-making in resource extraction.

The workshop also highlights advanced logging technologies and services that enhance evaluation accuracy and reliability. Tools from Weatherford, Impact Selector, and Probe are spotlighted as integral to this process. Weatherford’s logging solutions are known for providing high-quality, real-time data with advanced capabilities like formation evaluation, pressure measurement, and multi-phase flow monitoring. The Impact Selector system is designed to optimize the selection of the best logging tools based on specific well conditions and objectives. It enables the user to customize the logging suite, ensuring efficiency and cost-effectiveness. Additionally, the Probe service contributes by delivering precise measurements of wellbore conditions, providing a deeper understanding of reservoir characteristics and supporting better-informed operational decisions.

Together, these tools enhance the wireline logging service’s ability to capture accurate, real-time data that ultimately improves decision-making, reduces operational risks, and maximizes the efficiency of resource extraction in the Caribbean’s complex subsurface environment focusing on the Trinidad-Guyana-Suriname Basin.

Workshop 3: Subsea Regional Coordination
Sponsored by: DOF Subsea

Date: February 12th 2025
Location: Regency III
Time: 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm

This workshop will be hosted by the Energy Chamber and sponsored by DOF Subsea. The workshop will feature a roundtable discussion with major upstream companies and subsea contractors.

The discussion will focus on regional subsea collaboration and include:

-Subsea Achievements in 2024
-Vessel sharing and Planning
-Regional lessons learnt
-Emergency response – capping stack etc.

The desired outcome of the workshop is to establish an active Subsea Workgroup / Network for the future.
